Have No Fear — A Tither is Here

Posted by John Smith on December 17, 2010

(Gen 15:1 YLT)  After these things hath the word of Jehovah been unto Abram in a vision, saying,
‘Fear not, Abram, I am a shield to thee, thy reward is exceeding great.’

 (Gen 15:1 BBE) After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying,
Have no fear, Abram: I will keep you safe, and great will be your reward.

I love what God tells Abram here.  He tells Abram, FEAR NOT I am your shield, I will keep you safe.  After Abram, pursued and overtook the four conquering kings he met up with Melchizedek the priest of God Most High and gave him a tithe of all that he had gained.  I think it is interesting that the word from God pertaining to his protection complete with the imagery of God being a shield came after Abram tithed to God.

Malachi 3:10-11 says, Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.  (11)  “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts;

Note verse 11 says God will rebuke the devourer for your sakes.  He will keep us safe.  There is a special protection that comes from tithing.  A divine safety.

God doesn’t want you to ever fear.  But if you are a tither, then FEAR NOT for the Lord is a shield to thee and has given you the authority to rebuke the devourer (Luke 10:19).
