Numbers 14:7-9 NKJV and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. (8) If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ (9) Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their
protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.“
“If the Lord delights in us, the He will bring us into this land and give it to us…” What a great statement. Joshua and Caleb said this to
the Children of Israel, but it is just as applicable to each one of us as well. Let’s make it personal and rephrase it just a little bit. “If the
Lord delights in me, then He will bring me into His promises and give them to me.” GLORY! What a wonderful statement. That is of course if I believe He delights in me. If I believe He delights in me, then all I have to do is not rebel against Him or fear and if I really believe that He delights in me then why would I ever fear anything.
Romans 8:31 NKJV What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
So the question remains, does God delight you? In 2 Samuel 22:20, David said God delivered him from calamity because God delighted in him. In 1 Kings 10:9, the queen of Sheba blessed the Lord God and told Solomon he was made king because God delighted in him. The 37th Psalm tells us that, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He (the Lord) delights in his way.” Those are just a few of the references you can find that speak of God’s delight for his children. You might say that the first two Scriptures are only about David and Solomon, but just like God delivered David from calamity He has delivered you from sin and death. Like He delighted in Solomon by making him king, He delights in us by making us royalty by adopting us into His family (1 Peter 2:9, Romans 8:16). God delights in you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus to die on your behalf so that you could forever live with Him. The Lord delights in you that much and since He delights in you, you can have confidence that as long as we don’t rebel against His Word then we can walk in all of His promises for us. God delights in you, so FEAR NOT!
