Numbers 21:34 NKJV Then the LORD said to Moses, “Do not fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.”
Now in their 40th year of wandering in the wilderness, the Children of Israel seem to be encountering problem after problem, fight after fight. They’ve safely meandered through 20,000 square miles of wilderness and now seem to be encountering trial after trial as they approach the end of their 40 year delay to inherit the land God promised to them through Abraham.
So far that year they’ve dealt with vicious snakes and are now encountering the third battle with kingdoms they are passing on their journey. God’s Word prevailed yet again as they added King Og to the list of kings they’ve defeated by the Grace of God. Then they were led to the plains of Moab just across the Jordan from Jericho, where they could see the great walled city, they would one day conquer. But their journey wasn’t done (Numbers 21). Balaam set out to curse them, but instead only spoke blessings (Numbers 22). They brought a great plague on themselves by worshiping other God’s and sleeping with Moabite and Midianite women, which God healed them off when they repented and wholly followed His instructions (Numbers 25). The last of the people who rebelled against God refusing to enter into the Promised land has now died (Numbers 26:63-64). But it still wasn’t quite time to enter in.
They returned to the plains of Moab just across the Jordan from Jericho where, God reminds His people, teaching them again His Word and how they should live (Numbers 27-30). Again the Children of Israel experience another great victory over the Midiante armies and collect a vast abundance of spoil (Gold, Silver, weapons, livestock, etc…). Yet God had more for them.
An amazing thing happened during the 40th year of travel for God’s people. As God moved them closer and closer to His final goal, they experienced more and more opposition and had numerous opportunities to fear. Yet in each situation, as they kept their faith in God and sought His will, following His Word, they were delivered mightily. Each opportunity to quit and turn back, each fear inducing circumstance began to turn into a victory parade encouraging faith instead of fear to rise up in the hearts of each of God’s precious people. God reaps faith where the Devil sows fear.
Whatever obstacles the enemy may bring throw at you to bind you in fear and keep you from your inheritance, God will deliver you through and use to inspire the faith in you that you will need to overcome the next attack as you journey into the fullness that God has for you. God is starting with you where you are and will develop your faith from there. Just keep your eyes on Him. If you make mistakes and fall along the way as the Children of Israel did when they sinned against God by worshiping idols and disobeying His commands concerning the women of Moab, repent and get right with Him again. He will forgive you and continue with you on your walk of faith. You are not wandering aimlessly. God is moving you from, “Glory to glory. Faith to Faith,” into all that He has promised. He is turning your fear into faith, so FEAR NOT!
2Corinthians 3:18 NKJV But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Romans 1:17 NKJV For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written,
“THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”
