Deuteronomy 1:21 KJV Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it,
as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
In other words, “Don’t be afraid (Fear Not) and don’t be discouraged, God has set the promise in front of you. Stay steady, keep moving forward and you WILL grab hold of it.” God told His people thru Moses to fear not nor be discouraged. You see, fear and discouragement are related. They are like sinister sisters working together to keep you bound. Fear leads to discouragement and discouragement leads to fear.
Discouraged means to be dissuaded, depressed, having ones courage extinguished, to lose heart, to be deprived of courage or confidence. It is easy to see how discouragement can lead to fear, but don’t be discouraged God has set the promise before you. Sometimes the walk of faith doesn’t always go the way we think it should. I believe many times that is because we got tired somewhere along the way and sat down. There we sit on a bench next to the path leading to next of many promises of God, which He has given us and laid out before us but there we sit hoping that they will come to us. We sit day after day, becoming more discouraged that the promise hasn’t come or at the reports of what lies ahead on the path.
Just like the children of Israel, your promise is just up ahead. Just like them you must go up and posses it. If you’ll just stay steady and keep moving forward you will grab hold of all that He has for you. Just don’t quit. Reports will come that will attempt to dissuade you and cause you wane in your confidence. Don’t lose heart. He has set the promise before you. The answer is there. The healing is there. The new job is there. The provision is there. The miracle is there. Whatever you need, your promise is there. Where? There. Right there, in front of you. Don’t turn and don’t waver, simply stay steady and keep moving forward. Fear not and don’t be discouraged, your miracle, your promise from God is closer than you think.
