Joshua 1:8-9 NKJV This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (9) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
The book of Joshua begins with the Lord speaking to the newly transitioned leader of the Hebrew nation. The Lord begins by twice echoing words He spoke to Moses to tell Joshua and the people. “Be Strong and of good courage (Joshua 1:6, Joshua 1:9),” which He follows with, “do not be afraid…” for I am with you.
One fear that attacks all of us at one time or another is the fear of failure. The fear of failure, Atychiphobia, is one of the most paralyzing of phobias causing those suffering under more severe degrees to never attempt anything new unless perfection or success is assured. Those suffering from this type of fear will subconsciously undermine their own efforts to try new activities so they don’t have to continue to try, and as with many other fears it brings about the very end that was feared, failure.
Fear failure no more. God has given us the keys to success. Think, speak and do His Word. The Lord tells Joshua in verse 8 that if he’ll read God’s Word and then frequently repeat it and speak of His Word, reminding himself of God’s promises and character, use his leisure time to think about it, and to do what it says to do (which thinking of and speaking of often is prone to lead to), then he is experience prosperity and GOOD success. Glory, God doesn’t just want you to experience success, He wants you to have GOOD success.
By reading, thinking, speaking, and doing God’s Word our success is assured. This results in the elimination of the fear of failure. So be strong and of good courage. Read His Word. Speak His Word. Meditate on His Word. Do His Word. Then you will have good success at whatever is before you to do. And FEAR NOT, for the Lord your God is with you every step you take.
Joshua 1:8-9 MSG And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. (9) Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. GOD, your God, is with you every step you take.”
