Building in Difficult Times

Nehemiah 4:7-8 NKJV  Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry, 8 and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion.

Nehemiah 4:14 NKJV  And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”

Nehemiah and the people of Jerusalem were diligently working to restore the walls of Jerusalem, but not everybody was happy with that idea.  A number of peoples residing nearby did not want the Israelites to have restored fortification around their city and plotted to thwart their efforts.  If you’ve never heard this before, I’ve got news for you…  Everybody is not always going to like what you are doing.  I love what Nehemiah and the people did next.  They prayed!

Nehemiah 4:9 NKJV  Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.

Too many times people find themselves in difficult and fearful situations, yet never even consider praying about it.  They worry, fret, and meditate on their concern which only serves to grow their fears.  One thing that happens when we pray is we acknowledge and remind ourselves of the Lord’s presence in the situation.  We remember the Lord.

Take some time to talk to the Lord right now about things going on in your life and circumstances you are encountering.  He is with you and longs to help you.  “Remember the Lord, great and awesome…”  The Lord is great.  He is awesome.  And He is on your side.  Whatever fear is coming against you creating confusion and trying to stop your progress and momentum for the Kingdom and in your walk with Him had better watch out, the great and awesome Lord, your Heavenly Father is on the scene.  FEAR NOT!
