Job 18:11 NKJV Terrors frighten him on every side, And drive him to his feet.
Job 18:14 NKJV He is uprooted from the shelter of his tent, And they parade him before the king of terrors.
Job 18:18 NKJV He is driven from light into darkness, And chased out of the world.
Are you being driven by fear? Fear will drive and push people to panic and run. Fear will drive you to get out of the safety of your shelter, your home sweet home in the Lord by shaking your confidence in Him and His Words with lies, words and circumstances. Fear tries to get you to leave the safety of your dwelling place and run right out in the open. Fear will drive you from light where you can see into darkness where you think you can hide only to discover the terror increases and you can no longer see the thing you feared and now constantly experience the fear you feared without knowing if the thing you feared is even around for you to fear.
Fear drives, pushes, threatens, and intimidates us to make decisions and take actions. Like these Scriptures show, fear will drive you to a place of bondage. Anytime fear is present, there is an element of bondage there too (Romans 8:15). God doesn’t want you in bondage and God doesn’t want us to fear. The Bible teaches us that God leads us like a loving Father and a good Shepherd (Romans 8:16, Psalm 23), He doesn’t threaten us.
One thing that gives fear power to drive us is when our confidence in God is shaken. When we are not convinced that He is for us we doubt His protection from the circumstances that seek to frighten us on every side and drive us to make hasty decisions. When we are not convinced that He is with us, we will run from His very presence where our safety, protection, and peace reside. When we doubt His faithfulness, we lose sight of the reality of His very nature and Who He is (Deut 7:9) and try to find help and hope everywhere that it’s not.
Look to God today. Be led by His spirit and not by any insecurities or fear. He is for you (Romans 8:31). He is with you (Hebrews 13:5-6). He is Faithful (Deuteronomy 7:9). That is the reality. That is the truth. Don’t flee from Him. Fear Not!
