129. The Voice

Psalms 29:1-11 NLT  A psalm of David. Honor the LORD, you heavenly beings; honor the LORD for His glory and strength.  (2)  Honor the LORD for the glory of His name. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.  (3)  The voice of the LORD echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The LORD thunders over the mighty sea.  (4)  The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.  (5)  The voice of the LORD splits the mighty cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.  (6)  He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; He makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox.  (7)  The voice of the LORD strikes with bolts of lightning.  (8)  The voice of the LORD makes the barren wilderness quake; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.  (9)  The voice of the LORD twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In His Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”  (10)  The LORD rules over the floodwaters. The LORD reigns as king forever.  (11)  The LORD gives His people strength. The LORD blesses them with peace.

That same God, our loving Father, has called you by your name (Isaiah 43:1) with that same voice.  The voice that created the universe; the voice that created light; the voice that spoke life into being has called you by your name and said, “Child, you are mine.”  Enough said, Fear not!

Isaiah 43:1 NKJV  But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.

Romans 8:14-16 NKJV  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.  (15)  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”  (16)  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

  1. His voice… Ahhh, what an awesome responsibility and privilege, to be able to listen and obey his marvelous voice. I want to do that today and every day. Thank you, John, for remind us that His voice seeks out what benefits us. Always.
