Psalms 46:1-5 NKJV God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. (2) Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; (3) Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah (4) There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. (5) God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
Fear not! God is your refuge and strength. He is a very present help in trouble.
The scenery of life can dramatically change in an instant. Without warning things that seem as sturdy as the ground beneath us or the mountains in along the horizon can buckle and crumble in an instant. The calm and predictable waters of life instantly can be troubled and a great wave comes crashing down. They may appear as an unexpected and sudden downsizing of your company, ramifications from identity theft or one of many other troubling circumstances like the severe injury or diagnosis of yourself or a loved one. If we are honest, most of us can see where God was trying to get us to build our faith in certain areas, make personal changes (diet, education, jobs), or do certain things that would have enabled us to avoid many of these life shaking situations. Regardless of whether warnings were heeded, directions ignored or just a total surprise attack, having the carpet yanked out from under you and the “solid” things around you melt can cause you to slip into great fear. Fear not! God is your refuge and strength. He is a very present help in trouble.
In the middle of any situation that shakes your ‘world’ and throws you for a loop the Father is there. He is right there with you in the midst of it. You don’t have to fear. You don’t have to be moved. There is a place of peace and calm, even of joy. It is in the holy place of God presence. From His presence flows a mighty river that will bring healing, peace, provision, etc… to your situation.
God is your refuge and strength. He is a high tower and place of safety. In HIM you have nothing to fear. At the very break of dawn, the moment when you get that first glimpse of the circumstance trying to assail you turn to Him. Take refuge in Him. The Lord is unshakable and will not be moved. In Him you will be strengthened to stand “…FEARLESS at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake…” He is a very present help in trouble. Fear Not!
Psalms 46:1-5 MSG God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. (2) We stand FEARLESS at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, (3) Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains. Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, GOD of angel armies protects us. (4) River fountains splash joy, cooling God’s city, this sacred haunt of the Most High. (5) God lives here, the streets are safe, God at your service from crack of dawn.
