Psalms 112:1 NKJV Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments.
Psalms 112:5-8 NKJV A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. (6) Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. (7) He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. (8) His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.
The author of this Psalm gives us some characteristics of one who will not be afraid. In verse 1, the psalmist tells us the first characteristic of a FEARLESS person is that they fear (respects and lives in awe of) the Lord and “delights greatly in His commandments”. That means someone who loves and gives priority to the Word of God in their life. In other words, fearless people respect the Lord and reverence His Word.
In the first half of the 5th verse the psalmist tells us that a fearless person is one who is good, both dealing and lending graciously to others. This speaks of a person who looks out for the welfare of others not just their own and is willing to both give of themselves or of their substance to help those they can in genuine need. They are kind and live to be a blessing to others.
Then it says a fearless person, “guides his affairs with discretion”. The psalmist is talking about someone with good personal and business sense. Someone who pays attention to their own affairs and uses wise, sensible judgment when it comes to making decisions. This part of the verse can also be rendered, “he guides his WORDS with judgment” painting a picture that keeps their word and is careful to make promises they can’t keep. They know the conditions of their accounts, keep their word/obligations, and apply wisdom to their daily affairs of life.
The 6th verse says the person who is these things will not be shaken and verses 7 & 8 let us know they are indeed FEARLESS. Now there is one more tidbit we should add. That is that this person is also referred to as being righteous. If you’re a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, glory to God, that should get you excited. You see when put your faith in Jesus you received His righteousness and fearless nature. Put on that new man (Ephesians 4:24). The righteous are fearless people because the righteous have nothing to fear (Hebrews 2:15).

Philippians 3:9 GNB and be completely united with him. I no longer have a righteousness of my own, the kind that is gained by obeying the Law. I now have the righteousness that is given through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is based on faith.
