171. Look to the Lord Your Help and Fear Not

Posted by John Smith on February 28, 2014

Psalms 121:1-8 NKJV  I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help?  (2)  My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.  (3)  He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.  (4)  Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.  (5)  The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand.  (6)  The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.  (7)  The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.  (8)  The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

GLORY!  Praise God!  That pretty much covers it all.  Notice this entire Psalm only says one thing that we are to do.  Everything else it says that the Lord, He would take care of it.

The only thing I need to do it to lift up my eyes and look to the source of my help.  Just in case you’re not sure about the source of your help verse two tells us it comes from the Lord.  The Lord is our help and all this Psalm tells us to do is to fix our eyes on Him.

Let’s look at a few more thing this Psalm says.

  • It says that the Lord, the maker of the heavens and the earth is our help.
  • He (The Unshakable One) won’t let you be moved.
  • He won’t ever take a nap on you.
  • Not only will He not nap but He won’t fall asleep on you either.
  • The Lord is your keeper.  He Himself watches over you.
  • He is your shade, protecting you from the heat of the day or the fire of your circumstance.
  • He will keep you safe from ALL evil.
  • He will keep and guard your life.
  • He will protect you as you come and go now and forever.

That’s quite a list.  And every one of them is a reason not to fear.  Our job is to remember that He is our helper and keep our eyes on Him.  It is amazing how fast fear will fade will you realize He is there to do all these things, plus so many more in Scripture, and help you.  Look to the Lord God your help and fear not!

Psalms 121:1-8 MSG  I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains?  (2)  No, my strength comes from GOD, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.  (3)  He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.  (4)  Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep.  (5)  GOD’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you–  (6)  Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke.  (7)  GOD guards you from every evil, he guards your very life.  (8)  He guards you when you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he guards you always.
