Proverbs 10:24 NKJV The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted.
Proverbs 10:24 AMP The thing a wicked man fears shall come upon him, but the desire of the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall be granted.
This is good news for the righteous. It is one of hundreds of Scriptures that talk about the blessings of the Lord coming upon the righteous. The righteous are those who by the amazing grace of God through faith in the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ have been born again (Eph 2:8). If Jesus is your Lord, then you are righteous, in right standing with God, and have nothing to fear. You are righteous before Him because you chose to accept the gift of His grace, which was the substitutionary work of our Lord Jesus when He became sin on behalf of man so that we could become righteous through Him (Romans 5:12-12).
Jesus bore the sins of all mankind. He became sin and bore the curse of God’s broken law on our behalf (2 Cor 5:21, Gal 3:13). By accepting Christ we choose to walk in the forgiveness and freedom He has provided. Those who have not yet accepted Him at the time of their departure from this earth will have conversely chosen to accept the weight of their own actions throughout life (John 12:48, Rev 20:12).
The wicked (râshâ‛ in Hebrew), which means morally wrong or guilty of sin, will have their fears come upon them. But the righteous will have their desires, longings, and their delights come upon them. The righteous aren’t supposed to fear. The righteous are supposed to delight. Fear is only for those who are not in right standing with God. Fearlessness is for the righteous.
It is our fearlessness and walking in delight, desiring, dreaming and walking in the blessings of our loving Father who has already blessed us and granted to us all good things in Him, that should serve as a sign and testimony to those who have not yet experienced His glorious grace and still live in fear that they don’t have to. They are afraid and should be, because their fears will come upon them. But the righteous should only expect the desires of his heart and stay STEADY walking in that uncompromising reality.
The world is full of fear, because they don’t know Him. They will try to get you to fear, but you can walk steady, calm and in joyous delight knowing that His promises are true and are coming on you. Believer are not of the world. When you were freed from sin you were freed from fear. Do not compromise your desire and your delight in Him. They will be granted. Stand out as a light to the world today walking in fearless confidence so others may see, believe, and be delivered from all their fears.
