Proverbs 28:1 NKJV The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.
Proverbs 28:1 BBE The evil man goes running away when no man is after him, but the upright are without fear, like the lion.
Are you as bold as a lion? If you are a Child of God, you should be. This verse says that, “…the righteous are bold as a lion.” We are bold because we have nothing to be afraid of. The Bible in Basic English says, “…the upright are without fear, like the lion.”
This doesn’t mean we act arrogant. In the early to mid 90’s there was a brand that became very popular ‘No Fear’. It came out of the motocross scene and at least in my hometown t-shirts, hats, and car decals with the logo were everywhere. Along with it came a tough guy act and a pompous attitude that was pre-curser for a number of arguments and altercations.
Being fearless isn’t being arrogant. Arrogance contains a constant fear and sense of insecurity. Entrenched in a fear of vulnerability one seeks to manipulate how others perceive them and draw attention to their strengths and successes while bringing attention to the weaknesses, failures, or just plain ordinariness of others. Arrogant people are fearful people. They gain their self-worth by how you see them and are afraid others will see the truth about them and they will lose friends, respect, persona, etc…
As a Child of God, our value has been established. You are worth dying for. The priceless blood of Christ was shed for you. You’ve been sealed by the Holy Spirit of God (Eph 1:13) and He’s written a letter on your heart (2 Cor 3:3). That means you bare the signature of Christ. Whew! That signature is priceless.
Our righteousness is in Him. It empowers us to stand fearless in any situation. We don’t have to act tough or put on a front to mask our fear. NO! You can stand fearless and be bold as a lion. The key is allowing Him to reveal to you more of who you are in Him, then rising up to walk in the reality of who you are. You are fearless and bold as a lion because the fearless God lives in you, loves you, and has made you His own. Fear Not!
