184. A Person’s Fear Sets a Trap for Them

Posted by John Smith on May 30, 2014

Proverbs 29:25 NKJV The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.
(GW) A person’s fear sets a trap for him, but one who trusts the LORD is safe.

“…whoever trust in the Lord shall be safe (Pro 29:25b).” That’s positive. It tells us that our confidence in our Faithful Father yields our security and safety.

It is a person’s fear that bring a snare, setting a trap for them. It is their fear, because it is in that area of fear that their trust (fearless confidence) has yet to be placed fully in the Lord.

Now just having a fearful thought doesn’t mean someone is in fear. It is when we allow that thought to grab a hold of us instead of casting it down beneath our feet as we sit with Jesus the WORD of God that we enter in to fear. Then our fear becomes a trap for us, for we are no longer walking in the confidence of His provision, healing, protection, etc…

Abraham fell prey to the trap set by fear for him in Gen 12:12 and lied about his relationship with Sarah. Peter stepped into the snare set for him by his fear three times in a matter of hours and denied Christ, his Lord and his friend. Your fear will set a trap for you too.

The good news is you don’t have to stay trapped. You don’t have to stay there. By continuing to grow your relationship and faith in Him, diminishing your fears, He will help you spring from the snare you sprung.

Never stop growing in your relationship with the Lord. Don’t just read His book, but enter a dialogue with Him. Re-examine and study the letter He’s written on your heart, so you can see more of His great love toward you and the extent He’s gone so you can fully trust Him and avoid all the traps of fear.
