Isaiah 7:4-7 MSG Tell him, Listen, calm down. Don’t be afraid. And don’t panic over these two burnt-out cases, Rezin of Aram and the son of Remaliah. They talk big but there’s nothing to them. (5) Aram, along with Ephraim’s son of Remaliah, have plotted to do you harm. They’ve conspired against you, saying, (6) ‘Let’s go to war against Judah, dismember it, take it for ourselves, and set the son of Tabeel up as a puppet king over it.’ (7) But GOD, the Master, says, “It won’t happen. Nothing will come of it.
What God says about your situation makes all the difference. What does He say in His Word about it? His Word is His will.
King Ahaz and the people of Judah were deeply concerned because of the threats of two mighty kingdoms threatening and promising to destroy them. They conspired and plotted against Judah to take over the kingdom and King Ahaz was afraid. Yet, the WORD of God came to him and the people of Judah through the prophet Isaiah saying, “It won’t happen. Nothing will come of it.”
It is easy to get caught up in reports (doctor’s reports, financial reports, status reports, etc…) and observations of how circumstances look. Many times we don’t see the SOLUTION because of the size of the PROBLEM. When you are surrounded by negativity, compiling bad reports, or just people repeating the same problems again and again, it becomes easy to get swept down the river of despair which always leads you to the banks of fear.
In those moments it is imperative that one get away from the clamor of the crowd and find out what God says about the situation, because what He says makes all the difference. The people of Judah were all worked up and terrorized by the reports and threats of attacks they had heard, but in reality they had nothing to fear because God said nothing would come of it.
There are reports and negative thoughts we have every day about our and our loved ones’ jobs, finances, health, physical danger and other situations. But what did God say about them? In those moments we must ask ourselves, “What’d He say?”
Find out what He’s said by reading and studying the Word of God. Listen to the voice of the Spirit of God. What is He telling you? He may instruct you to trust Him and take action (sell something, call someone, speak to the situation, take medication, etc…) or in this case just trust in Him and relax for nothing would come of their attack against Judah. God does not want His people to fear, so He’s given us a faithful response to every fear in His Word and by His Spirit. Find out what it is and FEAR NOT!
