213. The Deliverer Has Come

Isaiah 19:16, 20 NKJV In that day Egypt will be like women, and will be afraid and fear…, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them.

In Isaiah 19, Isaiah prophesied about the bondage of Sennacherib and the devastation that his army would cause in Judah, which would bring great fear on the Egyptians as his armies made their way toward them. There is a lot of history we could delve into here regarding Egypt, but let’s just look at verse 20. “And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the LORD because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them.” When people are oppressed and cry out to the God of grace and mercy, He hears them.

The Savior and Mighty One, whom God promised would deliver them from their fear is Jesus. Jesus came to set people free from oppression of all kind. The oppression of sickness, poverty, depression, etc…, and of course the oppression of fear.

Jesus is our deliverer. Galatians 1:4 says he gave, “… Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father”. In 2 Timothy 4:8 the apostle Paul wrote, “the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!” To top it all off 2 Corinthians 1:10 says that not only has He delivered us but that He continues to deliver us and He always will deliver us. GLORY! He has delivered us from fear. He does deliver us from fear. He will deliver us from fear. Now that is one amazing trifecta for our freedom from any bondage.

Fear is one of those things that Jesus has delivered us and freed us from in His redemptive work at Calvary. Hebrews 2:15 tells us that He released us from the bondage of fear. God heard the cry of the Egyptians, He heard the cry of His people Israel, and He heard the cries of oppressed people everywhere. He responded by sending Jesus to bring deliverance to those in bondage. And He hears the cries for those in bondage to fears today. The deliver has come. Let Jesus deliver you from fear today. Put your faith and trust in Him and FEAR NOT!

2 Corinthians 1:10 NKJV who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,

Hebrews 2:15 NKJV and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
