387. End Times Phobia?

endtimesRevelation 11:11-13 NKJV  Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.  (12)  And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.  (13)  In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Many sincere Believers regardless of their pre, mid, or post tribulation rapture beliefs fear their future days on the Earth.  While mid or post tribulation rapture adhering Believers fear the devastation and horrid trials through war, pestilence and ruthless men as such as the world has never seen in its history, pre-tribulation rapture believing saints fear the world wide calamities leading up to their rescue, selfishly not fulfilling their dreams, or that somehow they might miss the rapture and be “left behind”.  But Revelation 11 once again shows the awesomeness of the Lord God and that we never have to fear.

Revelation 11 tells us that for 3 ½ years two witnesses prophesy, bear witness, and provide evidence of the Lord.  Once they finish, the Beast will rise from the Abyss and kill them.  But God always gets the last laugh.  For 3 ½ days lovers of evil will party and rejoice over their death until the Lord God raises them up from the dead.  Then great fear will overtake them as they yet again see the overcoming power of our Heavenly Father.

Regardless of whether you are pre, mid, post tribulation rapture or even amillennialists this kind of terror is not meant for you.  The Lord God is AMAZING and we should not fear ANY days to come nor the signs, wonders, miracles, or events that we are seeing or hearing around us today.  Jesus has the keys of Hades and of death (Revelation 1:18) and is LORD over all.  He is alive and forever on the throne.  Best of all He loves you.  Fear Not!

334. Jesus says, “Do not be Terrified.”

Luke 21:9 NKJV  But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.

Luke 21:11 NKJV  And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

Though most Christians universally agree that Jesus was speaking about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD, many believe that He was also speaking of the climate of the world prior to his second coming.  Regardless of how you interpret the Scripture, Jesus’ advice not to fear still holds true.

We live in a volatile world with wars and commotions erupting constantly around the globe.  In addition, the frequency of earthquakes and other natural disasters are also on the rise.  The nightly news is constantly filled with armed conflicts, civil unrest, and devastating storms, all of which are fearful sights.  Still we do not need to fear.  Jesus knew they would take place.

No matter how you interpret the passages in Luke 21 or Matthew 24, the Lord is not surprised.  He is the Alpha & the Omega, the beginning and the end.  He saw your present circumstance before you were ever in it.  He saw the decisions lawmakers and world leaders would make and nothing surprises Him.  That’s good news for us.  That means that our loving Father knew what would take place and is working to lead away from harm before we get in it.  For the circumstances beyond our decision making control, we have promises that He has provided a way of escape (1Cor 10:13).

So listen to Jesus, “…do not be terrified.”  Jesus isn’t surprised of the circumstance and He has a plan for you to bring you through it in victory.

“If we let things terrify us, life will not be worth living.” –Seneca
